Known as the first Culinary School in the Philippines, and for the past 16 years, Center for Culinary Arts have been producing top filipino chefs who are making names here and abroad.

Last June, I attended their launch of The Coffee Academy. And yesterday, I had the opportunity to be part again of another additions to this world of culinary education. Aside from launching the Coffee Academy to the public, the Culinary Research Studio and the Grand Kitchen were launched!

The Coffee Academy of the Center for Culinary Arts, Manila in partnership with the Coffee Academy of the William Angliss Institute, Melbourne, Australia is the first in the Philippines who offers 5 programs for people who are coffee enthusiasts or people who wants to broaden their knowledge, not just in cooking or baking, but also in coffee making.
ABC of Espresso Making
The basics are the best! Here you will have an introduction to espresso coffee that will give you basic knowledge and skills that will help you in the process of coffee making.

Some of the fun learnings that you will gain here is how to make an espresso from the scratch, how to steam you velvety and sweet milk, practice in making your own first personalized cup of hot latte and other espresso drinks, and how to construct your creative espresso coffee menu. Part of this course is you will also learn how to operate and clean espresso machines and grinders in a safe way.
Advanced Espresso
Now that you have learned the basic skills in espresso making, it is much better if you continue this journey in making a great cup of coffee. ABC of Espresso as a pre-requisite, Advance Espresso is the next step.

  • the coffee industry, including coffee cultivation and processing, roasting and blending, and
  • taste and analysis of a range of single origin coffees (Source: The Coffee Academy Brochure)
Practice Sessions
This is a good way for students who does not have espresso machines to practice to but wants to hone their skills in making a great coffee. This is arranged with the Coffee Academy office and depends on the availability of the trainer.

Booking and paying for the practice sessions are done by contacting their office.

This program is were you can earn a Nationally Recognized Certification from the William Angliss Institute, Australia. In this program, you can put into practice what you have learned from the past courses (ABC of Espresso Making, Advanced Espresso and Practice Sessions).

You will actually do a hands-on training experience here! In a real coffee shop of course!

This program is the nationally endorsed unit of competency and is delivered in up to 5-stages. Coffee makers with experience on espresso machine may be eligible for credit through the recognition and evaluation process.

THE MAKE-UP SHOW: The Face Shop collaborates with Mr. Son Dae Sik

Just a short yet memorable make-up class with one of Korea's Top Make-up Artist, Son Dae Sik!

It was just supposed to be a day for malling with my friend, however, we saw this event by The Face Shop. We just looked at it from a far. When we got into the activity center area, I saw the picture of the guest which happens to be in the show that I watch in korean cable channel, tvN. I got really excited and asked my friend if we can watch the show and she said yes!

The good thing about it is that the event is FREE! All we had to do is to list our name in the registration are, and we got to take a free kit courtesy of The Face Shop. Wee! So lucky!

The Face Shop's FACE IT FLAWLESS kit by Mr. Son Dae Sik

The show featured the new product the The Face Shop collaborated with Mr. Son Dae Sik, the make-up line "FACE IT FLAWLESS". It is a limited edition make-up kit for people who wants to have that flawless look in an easy way.

Mr. Sik provided us with a short make-up class on how to use the new product and his model is our very own Philippines Topgirl for The Face Shop, Monalyn Luna. (She's so lucky she got to meet Kim Hyun Joong when they went to korea!!)
Monalyn Luna, Philippines Topgirl for The Face Shop

Step 1:

FOUNDATION

  • Put moisturizer
  • Apply foundation (always use color that matches your skin color)
  • Apply on light powder.
    • Use brush in applying powder to give a healthy glowing face.
Step 2:

BLUSH
  • In applying blush, use a brush with a straight line shape to accentuate your facial shape or to give a lifted-shape cheek effect.
Step 3:

EYE LINER & EYE SHADOW (Smokey eye effect)
  • Put on the lower eye lid first.
  • For a smokey eye, use a black eye shadow, then smudge it.
    • Use black to create a soft toned down smokey eyelid.
    • Use brown color to put effect on the main eyelid.
    • Put on lighter color (flesh color) to the upper part of the eyelid to create a more softer look, because the peachy golden color will blend to the chick black color.
Step 4:

MASCARA
  • Apply mascara after applying eye shadow
Step 5:

LIP GLOSS
  • Apply lip gloss.
    • If eye is much more emphasized, use lighter lip color.

So easy right! Five easy steps (oh, btw, this is based from the english translation, since Mr. Sik speaks in korean. :D )

After the class, a short modeling from the other models that featured Mr. Sik's work.

A word of thanks from The Face Shop Philippines and from Mr. Son Dae Sik.

Sunday Movie Day!

"It's a rainy sunday and I feel so cold. I woke up early and still feeling sleepy.." *Yawn* ;)

Good day everyone! :)

It's my off day today! And fortunately, it's my sister's day off too, so me, my sister and my brother decided to watch a movie! Yay! It's been a while! :)

ME! :D

Since it's The Dark Knight Rises madness right now, I wanted us to watch it because they say that it's really a good movie and a must watch! We went to Gateway Cubao (as this is the nearest mall in our place) and went to the cinema. But when we were there, my brother decided to watch Ice Age 4 instead.. Aw.. :(

I'm not sure about it if I'll like it or not since I haven't watched Ice Age 2 and 3 yet (such a looser! haha!) but my sister said there's no connection or whatsoever to it and so I agreed. We waited for about an hour and a half for the movie to start.

Well, it is a nice and funny movie and I really enjoyed watching it with my siblings! And also, I am surprised that behind the character's voice are some of my favorite Hollywood stars like Jennifer Lopez and Heather Morris! :) What a nice movie indeed and it was all worth it!

After watching, we had our dinner at Teriyaki Boy. Hm yummy! :D

Yummy ramen! :)

This one's good too I forgot its name haha! :D

I missed this food! Tofu steak! So soft and yummy!

Pot of sticky rice with some chicken and my favorite shitake mushroom (I also forgot its name hihi)

Shoti :">

With shoti :"> he finished his ramen all by himself! :D

Rainy weather

How about you, how was your sunday? I hope you had a good time too! :)

And oh, by the way, I have a new hairstyle, what do you think about it? :">

Thank you for your time!

UPDATE July 4, 2012

Hello guys!

It's now July and it's been raining hard for the past days. How was your month have been? As for me, I have some planned activities for this month aside from my current work. :)

I would like to have a photoshoot with some friends that will be included in my portfolio which will be posted here. There's also a seminar about Investing in Stock Market this coming July 19, 2012 at Greenhills Annapolis, and attending here would at least give me some knowledge regarding the Stock Exchange and how it works. I wasn't able to memorize all the details about it and the contact numbers, I will just post it after I looked for the numbers I listed.

I would also like to attend to some events this month so I'm planning to research on up coming events around the metro. Hm, anyone knows?

And also, watching my cousin perform with her bandmates in the Bedan Music Group. I learned that they are in demand! So proud! :)

Anyway, that's it for now and hoping to post some pictures soon and please do support my site! :)

Thank you everyone!

Zalora Philippines

Shopping in malls can be, for some women or people a way to release their stress out. But for most busy people, its a bit hard for their schedule to include shopping for new shoes or new office/casual clothes because of their very busy and hectic work schedule. Also, its very tiring if you like to look for some good choices that is budget friendly at the mall and its also much time consuming..

Well, this is not new anymore, however, I just want to share my experience in shopping for shoes with the help of...

ZALORA PHILIPPINE'S LEADING ONLINE SHOPPING SITE FOR FASHION, CLOTHES AND SHOES

I know some of you are already familiar with Zalora. I learned about this store when I read my friend's blog about it.

So, here I am, in need of a closed shoes with black as the main color. My feet size is almost 5 (4.8-ish i think) and I really have a hard time looking for a budget friendly but still good looking shoes in malls. Most of the shoes with a nice design are usually 6 or 7 in size. And the remaining sized 5 shoes are more than 900.

My budget is only 700-800 and it must be black and closed. I got tired of wearing wedges and heeled shoes for work that made me decide to buy. I remembered about Zalora and tried to visit the site. I immediately clicked on the flats categories and chose size 5.

I tried looking, until I found the shoes that I've been wanting to have. It has a zebra print and it looks cute. I immediately added it to cart since it was the last pair. I signed up for a zalora account and just waited for the confirmation of my order.

One of the thing that's so nice about shopping here is the payment method. They have different types of payment methods. From credit card, to bank deposit payment, and even CASH ON DELIVERY! I chose COD as mode of payment since it is so convenient. I just left an authorization letter and my payment and viola! My package was delivered after 2 days (tho my package really arrived the day after I ordered, I just wasn't able to leave my payment behind!)

So fast isn't it?

Next time that I will buy new clothes, I'll definitely buy again here at Zalora Philippines.

If you want to know more about Zalora's products, please visit their website at www.zalora.com.ph. You can also visit their facebook page https://www.facebook.com/ZaloraPH or follow them on Twitter at https://twitter.com/ZaloraPH
